The - MIX DOWNTOWN - brings hip sophistication and now they are bringing cool contemporary “live” jazz to Sacramento’s expanding urban restaurant and club core.            

- UTOPIAN DREAMS -  will be the first headline act for the new “Jazz in the Mix” series at the MIX starting May 17^th at 7:00pm.

Featuring - CECIL RAMIREZ - on keys (www.cecilramirez.com), rumor has it that this will be one of the best shows this year to hear UTOPIAN DREAMS. Cecil has been performing shows and concerts with fellow Mason & Hamlin artist and smooth jazz star Brian Culbertson.  This last January, Cecil was a headliner for the inaugural IJAMS Jazz Cruise, sharing the stage with independent jazz artists Dean James, LeNora Jaye, Ian Villafana, Buddy Jordan, Jere B, and Damon Williams.  He performs regularly in the Sacramento area and is currently recording his second smooth jazz CD.

The MIX Downtown is located at 16^th and L Streets in downtown Sacramento.  The small plates restaurant and lounge creates an inviting social scene with a rooftop patio featuring fire pits and spacious bars, an intimate dance floor, small bites and the region’s top entertainment. UTOPIAN DREAMS has also confirmed that trumpeter, - JON BARNES - will be joining the band's line up. Jon Barnes is a world class musician, writer, composer and producer, who has played the trumpet in the movie "Dirty Dancing, and worked with Smokey Robinson and the Temptations.  He has an incredible list of contemporary jazz credits including such stars as George Benson, Gerald Albright, Tom Scott, Rick Braun, Chris Botti, Jonathan Butler, Mindi Abair, Eric Marienthal, Bobby Lyle and the list goes on. Jon's latest CD is "Nuvia Smooth" which is a tribute to Miles Davis.
